Project settings
Hoop mm
Choose the size and shape of the frame you will sew with. Changing the frame does not move your artwork.
Set the width and height of the hoop area in millimeters. A smaller area may leave some stitches outside it.
The safety margin keeps stitches away from the frame edge. The dashed line shows this smaller sewing area. A layer warning may include empty space around artwork; export checks where stitches and machine moves actually go.
The preview is a guide. Check the usable area and positioning on your own machine before sewing.
Project stitch defaults
Generated image, text, emoji, and shape layers inherit these settings until you customize a layer. Manual paths use their own geometry settings; imported stitch files keep their original stitches.
Stitches
Running follows edges; tatami covers areas with fill rows. Satin crosses narrow areas. Wide areas usually sew better as tatami.
Longer stitches cover more distance in one step. Shorter ones add more stitches.
Straight, parallel rows for a regular fill.
Row spacing sets how close the fill lines sit; smaller spacing makes a denser fill with more stitches. Fill angle turns those lines within the layer.
Travel and finishing
Automatic follows nearby parallel tatami rows within each color area. Original order keeps scan order; Nearest next path chooses the closest remaining path. Closest regions and paths is available for parallel tatami, respects thread color order, and may sew a bounded retrace under an upcoming row. Such travel can still be visible on fabric. Layer sewing order stays unchanged.
0 uses the routing default. A value above 0 caps approaches inside the same color area; a covered-row retrace may be longer, up to 10 mm. Holes still use jumps.
Backtracking repeats a short path near the start and end of sewn areas. Test how your machine handles the result.
Fabric support
Applies row spacing, underlay, and pull compensation to this layer. These are editable starting values, not a machine or fabric safety guarantee. Sew a test and adjust for your material.
Center run supports satin columns; sparse fill supports parallel tatami. Support stitches sew before the visible fill.
Compensation widens eligible coverage slightly to account for fabric pull. 0 preserves the original outline.
Between separate areas, the design asks the machine to trim the thread and move without sewing. How a trim happens depends on the machine.
Exports are experimental. The design is centered for the machine, so its canvas position may change. DST keeps the sewing order but not exact thread colors; match the colors on your machine. Underlay and backtracking are optional and limited to supported styles. Check the size and sew a test before using it.
Machine sewing order
The machine follows this list from first to last. Layer stacking controls what you see on the canvas; changing a phase label alone does not move a layer.
Machine preparation
Plan which upper threads to load at once. Choose 1 needle for a single-needle machine; the guide follows your design’s sewing order.
